In order to
rehabilitate the destitute, Hussaini Foundation has undertaken
the following works:
1.
Survey to Ascertain
Needs and Requirements: A detailed survey
conducted through Hussaini Foundation zonal offices located in
the earthquake torn areas helped identifying needs of own
community. Results of the survey are tabulated below:
- Families deserving reconstruction of their houses:
13,083
- Widows needing Hussaini Foundation assistance: 1,085
- Orphans justifying community help: 1,374
2.
Construction of One Room
Shelters:
Besides the provision of 6000 tents/tarpaulin and 39000 pieces
of GI Sheets, 800 single room permanent shelters have also been
arranged for the most deserving segment of the community.
Efforts are in hand to provide bath and make shift kitchen with
these single room shelters so that these could serve as a one
room house in all weather conditions.
3.
Construction of Two Room Shelters:
To ensure rehabilitation of the earthquake affected families on
permanent basis 165 two room shelters have been constructed
while work on 400 such shelters is going on.
4.
Reconstruction of Water Supply Schemes:
Due to the earthquake existing water springs had dried up at a
number of villages. Water supply arrangements at five such
villages meeting water requirements of about 900 families have
been restored at a cost of Rs. 0.8 million. Five more such like
schemes are being completed at various villages of A J & K and
earthquake affected areas of NWFP, Pakistan with a total
estimated cost of Rs. 1.14 millions.
5.
Health Care:
In addition to the relief related health care activities,
Hussaini foundation has made a dispensary operational at Paras
in Kaghan Valley. This dispensary has been completed at a cost
of Rs. 0.205 million and Rs. 22500.00 are being spent every
month on medicines etc. 50 percent of the monthly recurring
expenses are being met by the Friends Educational and Medical
Trust.
